About the Position
Opportunity
This is a Head Chef position running the kitchen at a remote workforce camp near Edmonton, AB. The rotation runs 4 weeks in camp, 2 weeks home, with shifts up to 12 hours. The role covers full food production and kitchen management, from weekly menu planning and dietary accommodations to staff supervision and ordering within budget.
Canada Camp Jobs Analysis
Head Chef is the top of the camp kitchen ladder — you're running the whole operation, managing the budget, and supervising the crew, not just cooking. If you've got a Red Seal ticket or are working toward one, this is exactly the kind of role that builds a résumé for bigger camps or a move into corporate camp catering management. It pays a competitive rate plus overtime, though the posting doesn't list a fixed number, so confirm the wage before you commit. The catch is the accountability: you own the food cost, the inventory, and the kitchen staff's performance, which is a different kind of pressure than line cooking, on top of the usual 4-weeks-on rotation and long days on your feet.
